If you love mushrooms, you’ll love this hunt with Bill O’Dea – a passionate Irish Mycophagist who has been running mushroom hunts in Ireland and abroad since 1996.

Bill’s mushroom hunts are hugely successful and attract people from all over.

This particular hunt is part of the Wicklow Naturally’s October Feast at a location which will be announced by Bill closer to the time.

The group will be meeting at 11am for a brief introduction to Mushroom Hunting and this will be followed by a two hour forage. After the hunt participants gather up their mushrooms the group will then spend some time identifying what they’ve found as well as cooking the edible mushrooms.

Agenda

  • Meet at car park at 11am. People will need to travel by their own means. Exact directions will be given closer to the date.
  • Return to Car Park  at 1pm for further identification and cooking of edibles and a bowl of delicious mushroom soup provided.
  • Finish about 2PM.

This event will be outdoors and COVID compliant.

Bill says he expects the group will find over 100 different types of mushrooms on the day. The chosen terrain is suitable for all levels of fitness and participants should wear walking shoes and outdoor clothing. People are asked to please bring a basket or cloth bag for collecting mushrooms.

The exact location will be announced to participants closer to the date. Numbers are limited to 15 so book early to avoid disappointment . The event will begin at 11am and conclude roughly around 2pm.
