Wicklow Naturally Membership

To become a Wicklow Naturally member, all ‘Wicklow Naturally’ members must be able to demonstrate integrity chains that can prove the claims which are being made. All ‘Wicklow Naturally’ members must commit to maximising the proportion of County Wicklow sourced product possible. Justification must be provided where this is not the case.

To become a Wicklow Naturally member you must fulfil one of the following criteria:

This is the criteria for food and drink producers:

  • Food and drink which is grown, processed and packed entirely within Wicklow. The product makes a positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food and drink whose main ingredient is produced/grown in County Wicklow. Other ingredients can be sourced from outside Wicklow. The product makes a positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food which is grown within Wicklow but is slaughtered or processed outside the county but inside Ireland (e.g. beef, lamb or chicken). The product makes a significant, positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food and drink with whose main ingredient is produced/grown outside Wicklow, but the vast majority of the production and craft process is carried out in Wicklow (e.g. a brewery sourcing hops or grain from outside Wicklow). The product makes a significant, positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food and drink which is grown, processed and packed entirely within Wicklow. The product makes a positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food and drink whose main ingredients are sourced from outside the county and are unable to be grown/produced commercially within Wicklow but are mixed or blended within the county. Control of product characteristics, quality and development happens within Wicklow. The product makes a significant, positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story and contributes to the local economy.
  • Food and drink whose main ingredients are sourced entirely from outside the county and are unable to be grown/produced commercially within Ireland but is mixed or blended within the county (e.g. spice or herb production). Control of product characteristics, quality and development must happen within Wicklow. The product makes a significant, positive contribution to the Wicklow Food Story contributes to the local economy.

This is the criteria for hospitality / retailers:

  • All companies selling Wicklow food under “Wicklow Naturally” must use a large proportion of Wicklow product/add a significant amount of value in Wicklow/undertake the majority of the craft process in each approved product. The product must make a significant contribution to the Wicklow economy. The food or drink must add substantially to the Wicklow Food and Drink Story. The company does not have to be based in Wicklow but should have a demonstrably close connection to the county.
