Wicklow is to feature in a recently launched ‘Ireland – County by County’ travel series which will be extensively aired throughout the US television network.

Featuring 10 counties – this exciting new television showcase will reveal the best of Ireland county by county to television audiences right across the United States.

Each episode will be packed with content: a travelogue and historical, culinary tour, with music and history, culture and heritage thrown in.

The Wicklow episode follows Ciara Whelan as she discovers the incredible paintings at Russborough House; takes some unusual furry friends for a walk; hikes in the spectacular Glendalough National Park; enjoys some Wicklow Naturally produce at the stunning Killruddery House, and much more. Ciara will also become a Wicklow Ambassador as she collects the various stamps for her Wicklow Passport.

This episode was made possible thanks to the support from Wicklow County Council.

“The Ireland County by County show offers a tremendous opportunity to reconnect with our overseas market,” says Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Wicklow County Council and Chair of Wicklow Tourism Alliance. “Following the various broadcasts, we will make sure that the production will be made available online for everyone to enjoy, hoping to attract more visitors to our County”, he added.

The show will be carried by 244 stations across the United States making it available in 86 per cent of US households. The network specialises in programing on lifestyle topics like food, travel, and home and garden.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr Pat Kennedy, is encouraging all Wicklow residents to become ‘Wicklow Ambassadors’ by reaching out to family and friends in the United States to tell them about this showcase of the best of Ireland and in particular the Wicklow episode.

Transmission of the first series begins on the PBS Create Channel in March. The initial broadcast schedule is very attractive starting with a “Marathon” (ie all 10 programmes shown back-to-back) that will air on Friday, March 12th.
